I am installing PowerStop slotted and cross drilled rotors and the PowerStop performance pads on my vehicle because of the mountainous terrain that I cover for my job.

If you are not replacing the calipers, can you simply compress the caliper pistons to install the new pads or do you need to bleed the brakes at teh caliper from pushing the fluid backward through the ABS?

just
remove wheel
unbolt caliber
losses cap around brake fluid and put a rag
unbolt caliber
compress piston with c-clamp
remove old pads and rotors
install new pads and rotors
bolt on caliber and put back wheem

only need to bleed when you put a new caliber really but some people do it. if you want can do it just get some dot3 fluid and a freind to do it.

Thanks for all of the valuable input. Let's say that you wanted to bleed your brakes for the purpose of replacing the fluid. Some DIY'ers say that you should bleed from all 4 calipers in a certain sequence...some say it doesn't matter. Any thoughts or links where I can verify either method?

Thanks,

Are you trying to replace all the fluid or just some of it? If you drain it all out, you'll have to bleed the master cylinder. I always bleed longest line to shortest line. So, rear passenger, rear driver, front passenger, and rear driver.

Does it matter? I don't know but I doubt it. On the small chance that it does matter, I'm playing it safe w/ my brakes and it doesn't take any extra time.

I'm not sure about this guys, but I thought I read somewhere that to bleed the antilock system it has to be hooked up to the computer.I'd check first
since you really dont have to do it.

Hi JeepMe, I was only replacing the front rotors and pads, so I just wanted to bleed some of the fluid out from the front calipers.

Hi CheapJeep, thanks for the heads up...I will check on that and may not bleed at all since it really isn't required for replacing the rotors and pads only.
