SRT Rep Wheel on a WJ?

The new guy has a question. I have an 04 GJC Special Edition. I was thinking of installing the SRT Rep wheels. They are 20x9 and 20x10 staggered. When I went to a local shop they told me i would ruin my transfer case by using these wheels in an AWD jeep. I was thinking of running 255 45 20 in the front and 285 40 20 in the rear but now im not sure if i am asking for trouble by going with this staggered setup. I love the look but dont want to chance it. Any input would be appreciated
Thanks

Re: SRT Rep Wheel on a WJ?

Looking at the Miata.net tire calculator you have a 0.2% difference I would think that will make a difference.

I wonder what the difference would be between the same size tires, but fronts a brand new (full tread) and rears area worn down. If that amount of difference would equal .2% then obviously that difference wont hurt the transfer.

Re: SRT Rep Wheel on a WJ?

I run all 20x9's....no stagger. As long as the diameter of all 4 wheel and tire assemblies are the same, you won't damage anything. Not quite sure what your tire guy is thinking. A thicker tire in the back than in the front shouldn't matter...but I can tell you it won't fit. They 20x10 backspacing doesn't work in the WJ. At least that's what my research has taught me.

Not to mention, keeping them all the same thickness makes for easy rotation...
