Re: Srt8 Wheels on WJ

I just came upon this post and had a few questions. I too would like to pick up some srt8 wheels, I'd like to stick to factory, what spacers would I need in the back to run the staggered setup? Is a staggered setup a bad idea on WJ's...? Going along with that, I plan on running the same size tires 275/55..Im currently on a 2"BB on UC springs, my clearance should be okay.

Re: Srt8 Wheels on WJ

I think a staggered set up is a bad idea...but that's just my opinion.
#1. Now you can't rotate your tires
#2. You'll stick out beyond the body line in the back

Other than that, it's totally doable. You might be the first to do it on a WJ.

Maybe I could score two sets of fronts online somewhere. I like the factories for the SRT stamp. I was also looking to get these PC'd gunmetal/graphite like my freedom wheels now. I've seen gray offered on some rep sites...this is not gunmetal correct? As for the size I saw a WK2 post with 275/55/20 revos. Those are what I'd also like to stick with, I love the rims but still with the OWL. Any thoughts on this?

Thanks

Matt.

Which suspension are you running? UC?

Re: Srt8 Wheels on WJ

Oh, if you're looking for OEM SRT wheels, you'll pay a pretty penny. The good thing is if you're looking to paint or coat them somehow, that might give you some leeway to buy some that might be scuffed a little at a cheaper price. The gray ones you're seeing in the replica form are "competition gray". Some folks on here have them...they look pretty bad ass.

For me, I was happy to be able to get 4 SRT reps, center caps, valve stems, and tires, mounted, balanced and delivered for under $1500. Mine don't have the stamp on them, and they aren't the lightest wheels in the world, but as far as bang for the buck, I couldn't go wrong.

For a minute I considered wet sanding my reps, applying SRT decals on one spoke of each wheel, then layering on a few coats of clear, wet sand and polish to see if I could kind of "ghost" the logo in, but then I came to my senses and talked myself out of it...hahahah.

I'd look to get used and see what I could snag, things is almost all are a set, but I'm not in any rush. I was also wondering the weight difference, stock vs rep? 275/55 revos are not cheap $255 each on tirerack...wooo. But they seem to be rated at 50K now vs 35K on my current revos so thats cool. Like I said I still really dig the OWL look for the Jeep, makes it pop! Another question I have is Tcase damage with these new wheels...I've heard conflicting things, you have any issues?

Re: Srt8 Wheels on WJ

No issues. As long as all 4 wheels and tires are the same diameter, you'll be fine. IT's when you're running one worn tire and one new one, or one slightly larger or smaller that you'll toast your drivetrain.
As for weight, I can't be sure. I know my reps were heavier than my stock WJ wheels. Not by much at all, maybe 5 lbs each? OEM SRT wheels I'd expect to be more significantly lighter. One is cast aluminum, one is machined I believe. Either way, unless you're racing, I'm not sure the weight difference is really worth much consideration. My gas mileage didn't reflect any measurable differences.
