Teves / Akebono upgrade

I drive a 2002 WJ Limited fitted with Teves Calipers, and I need to upgrade to Akebono. I have noticed on a few sites that people have bought the Akebono from R1 Concepts - however R1 dont have a conversion kit that includes a mounting bracket.

Do I require a new bracket or does the R1 Concept Akebono fit directly to the Teves bracket on my 2002 WJ. R1 doesn't have an answer for me?????

Take a pic of your caliper post it here.

You will need the Akebono Caliper bracket it will not mount to the Teve's. the rotors don't matter they are all the same size.

Re: Teves / Akebono upgrade

so guys someone on here must know the answer
any members on here from R1 concepts

need to know if calipers from R1 (akebono) will fit direct onto my car (teves) and do the Akebono's come with the mounting bracket .

need to know before i pay $600 + and shipping to Canada and find out they dont fit.

Guy I spoke to at R1 was next to uselless do they want to make a sale or not ???

Re: Teves / Akebono upgrade

I opted out of making this change on my 99 GC, and went with these:

Powerstop

Went from turning rotors every 20,000 miles or less, to not. Just now starting to notice a little warpage, but it has been several years since installation. Other than a little noise when stopping due to the slots, I would make this change again in a heartbeat. Certainly beats the cost and grief of finding and changing calipers and rotors.

Re: Teves / Akebono upgrade

When you turn in the old cores it must be returned with the mounting bracket and the new ones should come with their own mounting bracket. It is a straight swap to go to Akebonos as long as the shop that you bought it from does not mind the teves cores turned in... PS they were $80 each for reman.
