Guys, it is time for new tires for my 04 Overland. I am looking for comfortable and quiet street ride in dry, wet and snow. After checking BFG Long Trail TA, Goodyear Assurance, Michelin Cross Terrain.....my top 2 choices are Bridgestone Dueler H/L Alenza and Firestone Destination LE-2.
Does anyone here has any experience with my top 2? Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance!

I don't have experience with either. If I were to pick one I would go with the Bridgestone tire first. I am going with Cooper Discoverer AT3's within the next month.

No experience with your top 2, but I can tell you that the wife's WK has been on Long Trails for at least 3 years now. Very quiet, very comfortable, and will be lasting her another 3+ years easily. I rotate quartely.

I can get good deal on the Bridgestones, so I may go with them. They may not be the best in snow, but I think will be better than the original SR-A's.
What I don't like on the Long Trails is that they don't have the deep black color look. The ones I have seen at the store have kind of brown-ash color. Some people have suggested Michelin LTX M/S, but it is not available in 235/65/17. Best Michelin I can get in my size is Cross Terain, but they are too soft and look flat on the vehicle with their max cold pressure raiting of 35psi.
THANKS guys again!!! I will double check all the options again.

Don't do the cross terrains, my buddy tried them on his trailblazer and they weren't good in the winter. I've known a few people with the bridgestone H/Ls and they have been pretty good. I did have bfg long trails on my ZJ they were a very nice quiet tire with plenty of traction, especially when wet.

All tires can get that ash brown look when they are dirty, keep some meguiars hot shine on hand and you are a quick spray away from beautiful black tires!

Another options to consider is an alternate tire size that has the same diameter as the factory size. I am likely going to do that to get a bit more tread on the road. I did this on the XJ I had and was very happy with the choice.

That is true, and you can go slightly oversized without a problem, I went with a 245/65R17 on mine, slightly wider and even less slightly taller/larger circumference, made no difference really in driving or mpg and still has plenty of clearance.

Guys, I like the idea to go bigger! I guess Michelin LTX m/s is very good and closest size to OEM available is 245/65/17. There should not be a problem based on your experience and posts. I have to go get some quotes from the shops.
I was reading reviews last night on the Bridgestone Alenza and 50% of the people were unhappy with snow performance. I can get them almost (with the $70 rebate this month) for the price of BFG long trail or Firestone destination le2, but they supposed to be better tire with second layer of high contact material deeper inside. LE2 has the new technology and very low rolling resistance. It is also very light(29lb) compared to the oters (32-33lb).

Decisions, decisions.....What makes me feel better is that any new tire will be better compared with my 55K miles old SR-A's .

I have the firestone destination a/t on my jeep and I absolutely love them. They have more bite than the LE 2 do and are very quiet on the roads at the same time.
They are also superb in rain. I have noticed my car doesn't hydroplane at all. They cut right through the water.

If you want an all around great tire I would suggest those. Ive got 30,000 miles on mine and atleast 70% tread left.

Thanks for the pics jbaldwin92! They look great on your Jeep.
I did check them along with Michelin LTX A/T2, but since I never go off road I am more after the "street" look. I still keep A/T's on my list for "last resort". Thanks again!

Before I got different wheels I had the Good Year Wrangler Silent Armors. It was an excellent tire especially in the snow.

2004wjmedic, are you running the standart WK2 tire size also? Love your rims!
Regarding my tires, I am sold on the.......Nokian WRG2. Did not purchase them yet, but almost 99% I'm going to do it. I know it is mostly winter tire, but it is also rated as all - weather. Considering I'm putting about 7K miles a year and most are during the winter months (driving my car mostly in the summer) they should last atleast 3 years. I was talking to a friend of mine and he can get them for me almost ($70 more total) for the price of BFG long trail TA's and less than any Michelin. Also check Rover and Porsche forums and people there are using them a lot all year around with great reviews. Has anyone here ever used them?
