Re: Viper wheels on a WJ??

Why pay that much for replica wheels? I assume they are cast aluminum and likely heavier than the OEMs?

For that kind of money you can do better.

Good idea? I guess it is. Would I do it? No. Thats my opinion, nothing more.

If I was going to spend 4 figures on wheels (and when its time for me to upgrade, I will be spending 4 figures), I'm going to get something that is the best of the best.

Wheels are typically regarded not only for their style but also for what material they are made of (and in turn, how light or heavy they are). I'm guessing that the replica wheels (You'd have to look into this to be sure) are probably made out of cast aluminum (which is fine), but they are probably heavier than the OEM Viper or SRT10 wheels which are forged. Looks aside, it'll make your truck feel very sluggish. My tire/wheel setup is 7 lbs heavier than my previous set, and I felt it. Thats why I'm going to a lighter setup next time.

For 1300 bucks you can get a set of forged wheels....which are very light and look really sharp. Check out billetspecialties.com

Re: Viper wheels on a WJ??

the $1300 is probably with tires too......but Im not sure. I paid $900 for my replicas and about $6-700 for tires.

I have no idea of the weight difference between these and the real Vipers...but the SRt replicas are only like 1.5-2 pounds heavier.....for 1/3rd the price. Not too mention that the oem vipers or srt ram wheels dont fit the wj at all. For fully forged aftermarket wheels in the 20"+ sizes...yourr looking at $1k and up per wheel.

I guess that would make sense. I knew that the OEM wheels (I'm aware they don't fit) were BIG bucks even used, so I figured the aftermarket also charged an arm and a leg. I didn't bother looking up how much they cost in replica form. Oops.

Maybe the replicas for the SRTs are of particularly high quality....I've seen some rep wheels (particularly for ford cobra wheels) that there was a HUGE weight difference between the reps and the real deal.

Re: Viper wheels on a WJ??

would it make a huge difference, with the weight? i mean its not like im drag racing like bubbadog is, i can see where he needs a lighter rim. But wouldnt these be about the same weight as the SRT8 reps?

Re: Viper wheels on a WJ??

I think the Viper reps would look sweet on your ride. Love the look of them and probably would've gotten them myself if they weren't available at the time.

Plus you'd be one of a kind for a little while!

Here's a little Ps showing approx. 20" rims.
