Chicago Auto Show 2012 preview with SRT!
I attended the Chicago Auto Show media preview today, representing JeepGarage.org
SRT had a special Q&A late morning, where I met Dave Cottrell (SRT engineer) and Beth Paretta (Director of Marketing and Operations – SRT Brand and Motorsports).
They mentioned that the SRT Grand Cherokee has fastest acceleration of all SRT models. Until Viper arrives, that is. No hints about that (wait until April). Also, the SRT JGC has largest brakes of any performance model ever. Won't fit other SRT models - wheels are too small for that monster rotor & 6-piston caliper, so forget about swapping. Other interesting trivia-- the SRT JGC's stereo is more powerful but weighs 23 pounds less than standard.
Then, they brought President and CEO of the SRT Brand and Senior Vice President of Design Ralph Gilles over for some Q&A. Very cool; he is a real nice guy and a true enthusiast. When asked which is his favorite SRT model, he couldn't choose between the summer fun of a 6-speed Challenger and the winter ability and overall utility of the Jeep Grand Cherokee. Not a bad position to be in. He also mentioned that he still has a Stage III Neon SRT4...
Finally, I shared a nice lunch with PR and about 10 other clubs / blogs / social media people. There was much talk of integrating and collaborating, connecting to other Mopar groups. I also learned that there may soon be a SRT chat coming up for JeepGarage members, but no details were ready.
It was an awesome sneak preview. I'll post some choice pics here, but plan to upload everything to joeautoshow.tumblr.com (I have hundreds!) Can't wait for next year!
