I just wanted to post a little intro about the new Garage feature we installed. You can access it from the drop down in the Nav Bar (see attachment). To add your Jeep, simply click on the My Garage link. To view everyone else's garage, you can use the other options or find one near the rep points above each post.
The reason I didn't post about this sooner is because I am torn on how to set this up. Right now all the fields are text boxes, each person can fill them in how ever they want. For example, here are some variations of the same thing that we might see (actual example):
Redemption :: 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
With the above two examples, both are correct. The issue is one is listed as a 2005 WK and the other as a 2005 Grand Cherokee.
A better way to handle the input would be with drop downs. That way you could select the year, then see which models were available for that year. Once the model was selected it would show you other options like trim and engine size. This way we could standardize the input which would allow us to group up the vehicles later which we could use in various ways.
I'd love to pause the system and work with someone to come up with a list that shows every year Jeeps have been made, the models that were available and the trip and engines options for those models. It's a big task and would take some time.
If someone want to take on this task, we could pay a small amount for your time since this is a going to take a while. If no one wants to step up to do this, then maybe we could go decade-by-decade and do this as a group inside a thread here. Basically we could start a new thread for each decade, list the years and models made and then we could go research these together and come up with the definitive list for that decade. Then we move to the next decade.
If we can structure the input on the garage it will take more work now but will end up with a cleaner database which will allow us to do more things with the data in the future.
