New Grand Cherokee Purchase Dilemma (sound system)
Shawn here. Working i purchasing my 2nd JGC this year. I'm a big audio guy, run my own recording studio so I place a big premium on audio quality in my vehicles. Unfortunately ran into an issue upon making a new purchase and my search for solutions lead me to some posts on the forum.
My hopes were to find some solutions here and become a valuable member that could also contribute and help others in the future.
I don't want to be the new guy here and disrupt the community but hoping for some guidance.
Leased a 2014 JGC Limited for my wife in April. We love it, especially the Alpine system. Now i'm ready to get a JGC myself and due to supply chain shortage, Chrysler has reserved the Alpine system for Limited only through the $4200 Luxury II group, or as an option on Laredo Altitude which we dont care for. While I don't mind paying for the Luxury group, my wife and I are adamant against the Dual Panel Moon Roof that comes along with it for safety of our newborn daughter.
We know the head of supply chain management for Chrysler and he claims there is no way we can order a custom build in that package and get just a standard roof or no roof. My lease is due up next week. April is when the Alpine becomes available again as a stand alone option on the Limited.
So it would appear my only option is to pick up a standard Limited with a Stock sound system and add an aftermarket sub and try to get the sound as close as possible. Unfortunately the 8.4 Nav system will not offer my favorite "Surround" setting. I found the Mopar Quarter Trim Panel for $240 through Chrysler to house the sub. Just need the amp and sub but i'm unsure of the model numbers that come with the alpine.
I'm wondering if anyone has any advice on affordable solutions to get as close as possible to the alpine system, or to reprogram to get the surround option back. Or perhaps any solutions for how I can get the vehicle I want with the Alpine and no Dual moon roof?
