Over 188,000 SUVís recalled by Chrysler due to fuel pump issues
POSTED 12:30 PM, SEPTEMBER 20, 2014, BY CHRIS POTURALSKI
DETROIT, Mich.- Chrysler Group LLC has announced they are recalling over 188,000 SUVís in the United States because of a fuel pump issue that can lead to the vehicle stalling.
The 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee and the 2011 Dodge Durango with a 3.6-liter V6 or 5.7-liter V8 engine are being recalled due to a possible failure in the fuel pump. A contact spring can malfunction due to the heat caused by contact power, ambient temperature around the fuel pump relay, and battery voltage, which can result in a no start or a stall condition. Chrysler says ďIf the vehicle stalls, the vehicle maintains power and functionality for certain features, such as hazard indicators, seat belt pretensioners and airbags.Ē
The SUVís effected by this were manufactured from January of 2010 till July of 2011.
Chrysler will notify owners, and the dealers will replace the fuel pump relay with a new relay free of charge.
Dealers will start replacing the fuel pump October 24th.
Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403 with any questions.
