2013 Compass seatbelt chime

Can any one tell me how to disconnect my seat belt chime in a 2013 Compass. I live in a rural area and came close to breaking a collar bone on my very rocky & long driveway in WNC mountains. Please do not respond if you are going to be snotty or tell me why I shouldn't do this. It will happen and I like wearing my seat belt under NORMAL driving conditions (city & road). You wouldn't believe my driveway.

Re: 2013 Compass seatbelt chime

This works on older models. Should work on your 2013 as well. If not the dealer can disable it( don't let them tell you they can't - right in Owner's Manual, page 60, that they can ).

The following steps must occur within the first 60 seconds of the ignition switch being turned to the ON/RUN position( don't start the vehicle ).
  1. With all doors closed, and the ignition switch in the LOCK position, buckle the driver or front passenger seat belt.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON/RUN position and wait for the Seat Belt Reminder Light to turn off.
  3. Within 60 seconds of turning the ignition switch to the ON/RUN position, unbuckle and then re-buckle the driver or front passenger seat belt at least three times within 10 seconds, ending with the seat belt buckled.
  4. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position. A single chime will sound to signify that you have successfully completed the programming.
It can be reactivated by repeating this procedure. This only stoips the annoying chime. The seatbelt light wiill still show/blink.

Re: 2013 Compass seatbelt chime

pull your seatbelt out about 6 inches to give it slack if it is out more than that the chime will not ding.....I pull mine out a couple of inches and put my back againt it so it will not retract all the way and have never run into any issues with it.
