2010 Patriot.........Anybody having issues with the lug nuts seizing on....I just changed to my winter tires and just about all 20 lug nuts were so friggin tight I needed a pry bar on my tire wrench to get them off. And my tires have only been on since April.
What are professional's thoughts about anti-seize or molylube on the stud threads? I routinely cheque the torque of the lugnuts whenever I check tire pressure, and I have had no instances of loosening lugnut torque as a result of the thread dressing.
I spent years in a diesel shop performing service work, we always applied Never Seize or Copper Coat to the wheel studs before placing the rims and wheels nuts with no issues. Grease is not acceptable however... The Copper Coat or Never Seize allows you to tighten the nuts down to the proper torque with little issue, it's a pressure lubricant unlike grease. It allows the threads to cleanly capture the opposing threads and allows for intimate contact between the stud and nut to maintain the torque value applied. Also acts as a barrier from water and prevents the formation of rust by keeping the water and road chemicals (de-icer etc.) from getting into the threads. Sure makes changing the wheels a dream when your stuck without an impact gun handy.... Ole breaker bar and socket 101...
