Hi. I'm pretty sure my Infinity amp is fried. I'm curious if I can take the Kicker amp that comes out of 05' Grand Cherokees and pop it in my 02'?

Much more power and it appears to have the same exact wiring connectors. Getting new speakers too. Suggestions?

Thanks.

Oh, any suggestions on how to undo the ^%%$$#! plastic connectors that the speakers connect to the wiring harness would be gratefully received.

You know; I've can't find specs (dimensions) on the new Kicker unit, but, it doesn't look appreciably bigger at all. Maybe an inch wider. I think there's plent o' room under the rear seat for it. Just trying to findout if it will work :).

Turns out the tweeters are roasted around the edges. I did a trick I read about in another forum where you can apply a bead of silicone around the outside edge. That did the trick!!! Sounding fine. Although I would like to find out if that newer Kicker amp from the 05' GCs would work. Any ideas who'd know???

I did a little more research on this and although the connectors look similar the pinouts are way different and the WJ system is pci bus and the WK is can bus so its pretty much a bust. It's easier to go aftermarket.

I may just try buying the Kicker speakers as all but the dash board ones should fit right in and likely plug right in. Obviously the Infinity amp is not as powerful as the Kicker, so maybe I'll just go get a Rockford Fosgate or something. Have you ever found a source that makes it EASY to understand how to match amps with speakers? I'm somewhat knowledble but get lost pretty quickly when they start talking ohms and impedence etc.
