99 WJ with the infinity 6 disc changer. Problem is the cartidge for the CD's wont lock in place. It was doing ok for a while and then it ejected the cartridge when it was switching CD's. since then I havent been able to get it to load.
It's a 13 year old device which uses a spring to keep the disc magazine in place...it may be time to say goodbye...if you are willing to do that you may have a chance at repairing it.
Anyone know more specifics about this? My changer is doing the same thing. Yesterday I played with it a bit and it started working for about an hour then the magazine wont lock. I checked the spring and it is indeed there to return the catch. Im thinking about taking the changer apart but I dont see anything that sticks out of the ordinary. Anyone have any advice on this issue?
I never really took one apart but there's honestly not that much to them. I'd dive into it. Might be as simple as a worn plastic catch you could file or something. What the hell you got nothing to lose.
I took mine all apart last night. The return spring to hold the magazine was in place. However there was a cam arm that can block the spring from pulling the catch over. It seemed to be in the wrong place. I cleaned the hall effect sensor that controlled the timing of this gear and turned the motor a few times. Everything moved fine. I then put it back together and its all working now. Im not exactly sure what I did though .....
