I have a 2000 Grand Cherokee Laredo- radio is factory. I want to hook up my ipod but really don't want to pay 30+dollars on an fm transmitter. Anyone know if there's an aux.input behind the panel?? If I can save 25+ bucks by getting a cord, that'd be awesome.

Its called an FM modulator. There are other ones that work the same and are half the price. You plug your antenna wire into this, then take the new one and plug it into the back of the stereo. You then need to find a power and and ground from the car and then buy a wire that converts from red and white coaxial to 3.5 mm headphone jack that plugs into the ipod. Same concept of FM transmitter which works wirelessly but you dont get the static since its a direct line. You tune the radio to the specific station and when the modulator detects input it will play. I ran this in my old WJ and never had a problem and it only cost about $20

I went to a few car stereo places locally as well as a Best Buy. They told me I would need a mid to high end car stereo (around $250+) then the adapter ($150) in addition to installation and wiring harness. I only bought it for $2k and couldn't see putting that kind of money into it to get my ipod to play. I did like the steering wheel controls. I went to crutchfields and ordered a few things ($175 total). PM me and I'll send you the details. I never had a car with steering wheel controls and I wanted them to continue to work.
