You checked both fuses, #5 and #30 on the junction block? You could measure the power on the radio connector itself, it should have 12V continuously on pin 1 and 12 and on pin 2 with ignition switch in RUN or ACC. If that is ok, you could check the ground, should be pin 11 and 22. If ok also, then most probably the radio itself is inop. A good time for a double din install.
Thank you Frango,
Yes both fuses were checked, amplifier and radio, both good.
will run through the steps you've suggested and go from there.
Don't want to appear slow but what is a double din?
Tony.
The DIN norm is used to standardize in this case the size for the radio. The normal small size radio is a 1 DIN. Our jeep has a 1 1/2 DIN size, but the radios with a 6 or 7" display they are double DIN (so the size of two DIN radios in height).
There are some writeups on this modification, which is not just a simple remove and replace. Some plastic material needs to be cut away from inside the dash and a new faceplate in the double DIN size need to be bought.
