Driver door speaker not working

Hi all, just wanting to know if there is 'typical' place in the wiring harness for this wire to short/break? I have an amp in the rear, tried swapping wires from right to left and the left channel is working, so I know it's between there and the speaker. I removed the door panel and the wires are attached tightly to speaker itself, so now I'm chasing the wire from the amp (under rear right seat) to the driver door. Is there a common spot for the break?
Thanks

Re: Driver door speaker not working

Are you sure the speaker is not blown? I'd check it first.Usually the wiring trouble spot is in the conduit between the door and vehicle body. The wires break from constantly opening and closing the door over the years.

Re: Driver door speaker not working

Get a working speaker and connect it to find out if it's the wire or the speaker that's busted.....

Re: Driver door speaker not working

Are they the stock speakers? If they are chances are theyre just shot and the rest will follow. The stock speakers while, very very good, are made out of paper and the moisture in the air over time degrades the sound and damages them. I had the same problem in mine, infinity sound system and all. Ive upgraded everything, and a nice little note, they have oem factory replacements if you can find them. Heres the kicker, you wont get the best sound if you only replace the front door speakers, the door speakers and the tweeters work on a crossover system and they all have to work together with the amp. I spent 200 on JL Audio 4 speaker system up front and JL audio 6x9s in the back. they sound 10x better than stock, theyll last a hell of a lot longer, but they require fabrication (all 4). oh and if you replace them buy a pack or oem door clips.....lessons learned.

Re: Driver door speaker not working

Hi, I also have problem with the driver side speaker. It will usually be dead, but can suddently start to work(if so happens it will usually work until I stop the jeep).
Has not been able to get it working or stop with vigorously opening and closing the door, so a bit unsure if it can be the wires in the door.
Could a shot speaker start to work at "random" ?
