Re: Easy aux in for WJ factory stereo

Are you talking about wiring into the changer cable or the cassette adapter mod?

Re: Easy aux in for WJ factory stereo

The wiring mod, it looks alot cleaner, and Im replacing my factory deck with the RB1 anyway, its also been my experience that those cassette adapters are junk anyway. I just wanted to know if there needed to be a CD in the changer playing to make the AUX in wiring mod work.

Re: Easy aux in for WJ factory stereo

I don't know this for sure but I would say yes because if I remember right the magazine has to be in or it will show an error. If you put the empty mag in there the aux input might work but you'll keep hearing the changer back there searching through the mag making all that noise hunting for a disc. If that's the case and you don't plan on using the changer just put one crappy disc back there and leave it go. If you do use the changer it's a mute point. Just leave it loaded up.

Re: Easy aux in for WJ factory stereo

Just finished the rough-in of the install, one does not need a CD in the changer for it to work, however, with no CD present the volume can only be turned down, (which I thought was rather odd). In order to turn it back up again you have to change back to AM/FM. All functions work correctly when there is a CD in the changer playing behind the scenes, there is a slight hint of the CD song playing when the AUX is unplugged from the MP3 player but still plugged into the radio shack part, so in order to get around that I think a CD with a blank track on it would work. Thanks again for posting the how-to on this mod.
