Re: finding ground

if i'm not mistaken (it's been awhile since i installed a system in that body style grand cherokee) but i think the gap behind the rear seats that goes down to the metal floor, i just drilled a screw into it and grounded it there. You wanna sand off a small area if painted so the metal is showing.

Re: finding ground

The official grounds are like this:

GROUND NUMBER LOCATION FIG
G100 (4.0L and Diesel) Near Starter N/S
G100 (4.7L) Near Intake Plenum N/S
G101 Near Battery 3
G102 Right Side of Engine 19, 20
G103 Right Side of Engine 9, 13, 15, 16, 19, 20
G104 (4.0L) Right Rear of Engine 15, 16
G104 (4.7L) Left Side of Engine 18
G105 Right Side of Engine 13
G106 Left Side of Engine Compartment 4, 5
G107 Left Side of Engine Compartment 4, 5
G108 Near Power Distribution Center 6, 7
G200 Near Airbag Control Module 24, 27, 28, 29
G201 Near Airbag Control Module 24, 27, 28, 29
G300 Near Right Front Seat 42, 44

G301 Near Left Front Seat 41, 43

So not one really close to the trunk.
Just measure any existing bolt on the trunk floor to a known ground point to be sure its ok.

Re: finding ground

Uh, the whole vehicle body is a ground, just drill a self tapping screw into the metal somewhere unobtrusive and be done with it.......

Then use a socket on a self tapping screw and press hard, self tapping screws have a cutter on the end so that you need not drill a pilot hole.
