Infinity Subwoofer with stock amp

I have finally been getting ready to install my Inifinity Basslink in my 2001 WJ. It came out of my 96 ZJ with the Infinity system and the guys that installed it in the ZJ had it running through the amp. Do I have to do this or can I run it straight to the headunit? The woofer does have the built in amp and was wondering why I would have to go through the crappy Jeep Amp.

Thanks any input on installation would help. I am mechanically competent, but have never installed a woofer before and wondering how hard it really is.

Re: Infinity Subwoofer with stock amp

You should be able to run it to your head unit but your going to still run a wire to your battery for power. Make sure you run an inline fuse. How many big is the sub?

You could use like 8 gauge wire on the power wire. I ran my ground wire behind the back seat and attached it to the seat bracket.
