My simple stealth install...

Kenwood eXcelon 496 head unit
Image dynamics 6.5" components
Image dynamics ID15" sub
Kenwood eXcelon XR900.5 amp

Goal is a stealth install and sound badass. I'm no audiophile, but I know good sound. Love the ID15 sub due to the fact it can go sealed in only 1.3 cf which is what I built my box to be after sub displacement. The new kenwood XR amps look amazing and small with great power which will be great to mount under seat. They also have Cooling fans so under the seat should still run efficiently

Re: My simple stealth install...

Thanks. Didn't plan on spending alot on this system, but after buying budget gear and hating the results I decided to stop wasting time and get what I wanted in the first place. Then last week I was playing some Keno at a local bar and hit $2500 so I have a little spending cash to blow. Feels nice to buy without any worries.

New Image Dynamics CTX-6.5cs components, Kenwood XR-900.5 five channel amp, and all new installation gear are ordered and on the way. This weekend will be fun and I hope all sounds as good as I'm expecting. I already have the sub powered with a crappy PPI amp only giving it 150rms and I'm already impressed. The kenwood will throw out 400rms to the sub and 150rms to ea component

Re: My simple stealth install...

How much space realistically did the sub box take up in the tyre well. I've got this on my list to do as well but I want to glass/timber up a half sphere type of box as I am also hoping to still have enough room for my compressor in there as well.

Re: My simple stealth install...

The box is 21x19x8. You can still fit some small items around the sides, but it does take up a good amount of space. This is a 15" sub though so if you went with something smaller and shallower, you could save some space.

What are you using for rear door speakers?
What type of grill are you using? I use mine to haul stuff and would not want to loose that ability.

Re: My simple stealth install...

Right now, no rear fill, yet Im thinking I'm going to take the PPI components I replaced with the Image dynamics and run them in the rear.

Re: My simple stealth install...

Update on install. Spent all day yesterday running completely new wires from front to back, got everything installed and running. I still however need to remove the factory infinity amp and wires. Right now I just have it unplugged. Which is weird because when I plug it in, it still runs the rear door speakers, but causes the front speakers to run at a quieter volume. I'm just going to remove it and all the wires this week.

Another thing that really pissed me off is I stripped a speaker wire screw on the new kenwood amp which now prevents me from bridging it. I barely tightened it and it stripped. Of course it's a little Allen screw which sucks even more. I'm going to call crutch field Tomm and see what my options are on exchanging it.

Re: My simple stealth install...

Didn't get as many pics as I wanted but here are a few of amp installed. I do plan on hiding the ground wire. I had it hidden like the rest of the wires, but the ground wasn't good enough and kept causing amp to go into protection mode. Any ideas on a good ground spot close the amp?

Mines attached to one of the screws around my amp. I'll take a pic and upload it.
