Radio Display is Dark

Looking for some help. 2004 JGC radio display is dark. It's the CD, 10 disk CD changer and cassette, radio. The display and clock are no longer working. Is there a fuse for this or is it the radio head unit? Once again it's just another one of those nagging Jeep problems. I appreciate any input. Thanks!

Re: Radio Display is Dark

Does the radio itself still work? Could be that the display lightbulbs are burned. If you are a bit handy with a soldering gun you could solder some new bulbs on.

Yes. The radio, cassette, 10 disk changer all work! Just the display will not illuminate. Very strange, I have never seen it happen before. I'm thinking about pulling out the radio and swapping in a refurbished unit.

Wow! Nobody was much help here. I swapped out the radio with a refurbished unit. Great customer service from the company I found and a great unit with MP3 hook up. Shipped in two days and I had it installed within 15 minutes of taking it out of the box. Super factory radio with all the bells and whistles, professionally refurbished at a great price!

Re: Radio Display is Dark

I have two of those unit from WJs with different problems. One is cranky with reading CDs and the other has static in the front right speaker. Sounds like you could frankenstein them with yours and be on your way. I am done with them

It sounds to me that there is a broken connection of some type on the display. I second Frango's suggestion to open it up and see what you find.

The wood colored trim piece around the radio will pop of when you insert a trim stick behind it. Then you will see the 4 screws which hold the radio in place.
