Re: Wj 99

I hear ya on the sub. I'd love to add one, but I'm always hauling stuff with the seats folded down and all that and it would always be in my way. Upgrading the factory setup is good enough for me. How much modification did you have to do to get the tweeters to fit in the dash? Did you have to get an adapter plate to fit the door speakers or will it work without it?

The door speakers went right in with no modification. They came with some different mounting ring options if I remember correctly and one of them worked perfectly. As for the dash, it's hard to describe, but some plastic got cut. Not much...I remember using a small, serrated blade to cut away some plastic, a utility knife and a file. Nothing fancy...

Re: Wj 99

for my tweeters I used this http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...00_i00_details got them next day with amazon prime (new sing ups get free 30 day trial)

First I removed the old tweeters, and then carefully removed the connectors and soldered them to the new tweeters so they could just plug in.

Soldering kit you can get it from radioshack for 7.99 and very simple to use.

Total process took me around 30 min and cost me ~40 with the soldering kit

edit, I can make a tutorial on Saturday if you guys need it.

I was just looking at those actually. i do find it funny however, there are Power BASS Tweeters... thats an oxymoron if i do say so myself. I was thinking about Alpine Type S tweeters, to match my Type S door speakers i will be putting in. not sure yet though, money may be an issue, as always.

Just a mention>.... when searching for replacements I ran across some speakers from Cadence, still decideing but >.>. have heard some good stuff bout them. One reason is the XM694 are actual midrange drivers which match the original design for the infinty gold. The zx2m's will replace the 2.5" tweeters. the 6x9's have like 109 db n tweeters 94> haven't determined the rears as of yet. Most importantly they are 4 ohm speakers that will handle the 4ohm 160w amp of infinity systom . Electric guy told me 2 ohm will work for a while but eventually pop. Just a thought.

What do you mean by "pop" meaning, if you drive 2 ohm speakers with a 4 ohm amp they'll blow after a while?

Yes, thats what I was told. However, I am taking a class in electonics for my engineering degree, and from what I am understanding about ohms and resistance this shouldn't be the case. Things that make ya go "hmm" . Gonna have to investigate further on this one.

wjjeeps.com says the factory speakers are 4 ohm... so if you put 4 ohm speakers to the factory amp, there will be no difference except nicer speakers, with clearer sound. at least, thats my interpretation. i very well could be wrong, but the way i look at it, you cant go wrong with replacing the speakers with the same Ohm load, or impedance, that was there from the factory.
