Understand, The visor and manual are pretty accurate here. Driving normally with some accelerations help seat the rings and valvetrain. Immediate WOTs do not do the non-mated surfaces any good. After the breakin WOT operation is not an issue.
As far as oil change the standard oil change 3K/6K is acceptable. If you want the absolute best, an earlier oil change can get all those little metal particles from the breakin out of the engine. While most of the particles are small enough that the oil vis takes care of the engine components the larger particles can cause small scratches. Talking extreme cases here.

I'm guessing Iridium?

Thanks for clarifying this for me!

Re: May 16, 2012 SRT Engineers chat session

In regards to the transmission on the WK2 SRT, for future performance upgrades how much torque can the stock trans handle?

Also i get my car washed about twice a week but today i noticed faint marks left over all over the front of the car and they looked like bug splatter marks. I tried to get the marks off but they seem to be set into the clear coat of the car. Any suggestions on how to get rid of them.

X2 on the stock transmission maximum reliable torque/hp ratings.

If you are having braking issues and the ABS warning lamp is coming on, there should be fault codes stored in the ABS controller. Your tech should be able to pull the fault codes from the ABS unit.

Re: May 16, 2012 SRT Engineers chat session

As a follow up to my prior post on PCM flash 68041668AD, my car is now much more responsive and the occasional hesitation I would experience is now gone. My EVIC also now displays "Track Mode" instead of "Sport Mode" (and it is only a 2 mode ADS). Was this flash put out to address any performance issues or to add enhancements?

What are the disadvantages, if any, of using 5W-40? Is the MDS system affected?
Sorry answered this but it apparently did not post.
There are some disadvantages to 5W-40 usage for the cam phasing system (rather than the MDS system). The fast acting cam phaser system was designed to utilize synthetic 0W-40 vis oils. The oils we recommend are 0W40 Pennzoil Ultra (with 250 ppm moly added which gives additional cam phasing benefit - very positive on this oil) and our old SRT oil Mobil 1 (with 110-160 ppm moly).

Re: May 16, 2012 SRT Engineers chat session

Knowing that your Dyno Cell C8 can only measure up to 460hp, you've "estimated" the 6.4L at 470hp. However, there's several videos of stock 2012 SRT8 Chargers getting from 415hp-425hp at the wheels on a dyno.

Factoring in the 15% drive-train loss, would it be safe to assume that 470hp advertised is considerably lower than actual results? Would that mean the engine is putting out over 525hp + or - a few hp?

Thank you. Is Mopar going to offer 0W40 soon? P/N 05037645AB is shown in service literature but according to local dealer is not (yet) available.

Re: May 16, 2012 SRT Engineers chat session

My ACC system occasionally disables itself with a code C1268 "XBW RULE VIOLATION 02". The problem is reproducable by setting the cruise on the freeway at about 65, then if traffic backs up and the vehicle slows down to around 25, at the point traffic takes off again, the vehicle will surge/accellerate, then disable ACC/FCW. After a vehicle restart, everything is reset and functional again. The service manual states that if the code can be cleared, then no service is necessary. Are there any known issues like this with the ACC system?

Note that this reproducable problem only occurs when there is a large gap between the actual speed and the set speed. At speeds of 35-65, there is never an issue.

The 6.4L operates at the input torque limit of the stock transmission. This is based on SRT performance history and towing considerations. There are lots of shops that specialize in hot-rodding the A580 transmission for more power.

We suggest checking with a qualified Chrysler dealer repair body shop regarding your paint. They should be able to suggest the correct course of action.
