My question. Do the exhaust valves exist for sound only or do they contribute to better mpgs? It's been hotly debated, and us wanting after market exhausts are curious. Can they be eliminated and what will happen?

Questions are for WK2 SRT8s

Loving my 2012 Jeep SRT8 as much as my old 07 Jeep SRT8. Great work.

Re: May 16, 2012 SRT Engineers chat session

Regarding the WK SRT8 exhaust, can you tell me why hot air comes out of the driver's side pipe and cold out the passenger's? Is it due to the muffler baffling, or do I and a few others who have noticed this phenomenon have bad mufflers?

Re: May 16, 2012 SRT Engineers chat session

I have a 2012 Charger SRT8 and I love it! Great job guys!!!

1. You've been asked a thousand times about this, but can you tell me an update as to the PCM being unlocked for tuning? Can you elaborate at all?

2. Yesterday, I found out that some of the later builds came with 3 mode ADS, while the early builds came with only 2 mode ADS. I have an early build and can tell in "Sport" mode that it's shifts at a higher RPM along with the stiffer suspension. Is there something more that's done to the transmission programming with 3 mode cars when you're in "Track" mode that I don't have? Basically, is "Sport" mode in early builds the same as "Track" modes in recent builds?

Is there anyway to upgrade those cars with only 2 mode modules?

Thanks again guys for the amazing car!

I'm curious about the wheels/tires(sizes, brands etc) on the ACR one lap JEEP. What kind of mods etc?

Re: May 16, 2012 SRT Engineers chat session

Regarding Customer Satisfaction Notice M04:

"The User Guide on about 110 of the above vehicles incorrectly stated the use of SAE 5W-40 engine oil instead of the correct oil which is SAE 0W-40 full synthetic engine oil."

What are the disadvantages, if any, of using 5W-40? Is the MDS system affected?

SRT crew online - excited to be here!! We've got a good group here on our end, including our resident One Lap class champ, Marco! Who has a question for him?

Re: May 16, 2012 SRT Engineers chat session

How come the WK2 did not receive the same head unit as the new charger and 300? It seems to be the only real complaint on the interior of the WK2.

The exhaust valves are there to help tune the exhaust while in MDS. We're able to keep the MDS open much wider using the valves, so you do see a fuel economy improvement. They can be eliminated, if you don't mind your car sounding like a tractor at high load in MDS.
