Re: 01 jeep grand cherokee laredo heater issue

ok u can do this then the blend air door motor is behind the glove box remove it and turn the knob with you hand see if the temp changes if u can spin the knob all the way around its broken if it moves like 60 degree then its fine and your heater core has crap in it not allowing it to transfer heat to the air passing through it replace the heater core.

Re: 01 jeep grand cherokee laredo heater issue

I tried your suggestion with warming the car up on a slope with rad cap off, I did not see any bubbles surface and I warmed it up for about 10 min. Ill then try to get to the blend door and tell you what I find.

Re: 01 jeep grand cherokee laredo heater issue

I bled my jeep by placing it on a slope and warmed the engine with rad off. All it did was have coolant over flow. No bubbles came out. I then opened my glove box and my blend door actuator works perfectly fine and the blood doors rotate as they should. So since the blend doors rotate fine would that rule out that its not a blend door issue? Again this no heat issue only started after I replaced my thermostat. I'm at a complete loss right now. Is there anything I missed or anything other suggestions?

Re: 01 jeep grand cherokee laredo heater issue

Had the jeep taken to a local mechanic because I was at a loss. Turned out the issue was a blocked heater core tube. I did flush the heater core but I guess it wasn't good enough. They said they back flushed it a few times and now my heater works great!

Re: 01 jeep grand cherokee laredo heater issue

i have a rather strange issue, i cold air and warm air but no hot air... garage and google search have said its blend doors, i replaced these today did the battery disconnect etc and still no change.. the heater pipes in the engine have been checked and are hot (checked by a mechanic).. i have only just bought it and its clearly had a new radiator and water pump thats about all i know. i see that it the suggestions are that it may need a flush mechanic has said that because the pipes feel the same it shouldn't need one.. is it possible it could be electrical and it thinks the heat is set to warm rather than full whack? some vents blow stronger than others as well.
Jeep Grand cherokee 01 limited has the dual climate control.

Re: 01 jeep grand cherokee laredo heater issue

Some of the vents blowing stronger then the others is just a jeep thing, donīt think you will find any solution on that.
How is the engine coolant temperature? Did you check for any fault codes set? (could be blend door actuator for example)
Have a look at www.wjjeeps.com at the airconditiong section. You will find there a calibration procedure, so that the doors will open/close completely. Lets see if that makes any change.

Re: 01 jeep grand cherokee laredo heater issue

I have codes 46, 48, 51, 52, 54, 55 and 56. when i replaced the doors the motors work and are turning the doors but i left it open for about 5mins before taping it up and it just didnt feel like any hot air was getting to there but its cold here and may not have been left running long enough..

i also just drove into town and around and noticed the engine temperature dial on the dash is one line down from middle if that is significant?

Have you checked your coolant level ? If it was low did you add ? Did you bleed the system? Otherwise ...thermostat.

Think Outside !- No Box Required.
