01 Limited - AC Question As Well

Whenever I get in my vehicle and start it, if the climate control is not in the off position, it automatically is on A/C, and if climate control is off and then I turn on, it reverts to A/C. I can turn it off thought.

Additionally, sometimes when I switch the a/c on, heat will come out. Then when I restart vehicle, the a/c will work fine.

Got to be electrical but not sure what would cause it.

Re: 01 Limited - AC Question As Well

The default position for the airconditioning is ON. So if you start the jeep with the climate control not in OFF, the airco will come on. Also with the jeep running and you switch the climate control from OFF to ON, the airco will come on. This is normal behaviour.
The other problem you described, will it continue to deliver hot air when airco is switched on? Is a low temperature selected on the control panel? (assume you have the AZC system)?

Re: 01 Limited - AC Question As Well

The problem I described about the hot air blowing out when AC is on, yes the temp is set to lo and it will blow hot air until I shut the car off and then restart.

I noticed that if I turn the car off with the position sensor to any position but off, that when I restart the car with it still in the on position, it blows hot air.

Does that make sense?

Re: 01 Limited - AC Question As Well

Not really, but if you mean with " the position sensor to any position but off," the position switch, a little more
Being a limited, you should have the AZC. Try this attached test first to see if any fault codes show up:

ENTERING THE AZC SELF-DIAGNOSTIC MODE
To enter the AZC self-diagnostic mode, perform the
following:
(1) Depress the a/c and recirc buttons at the same
time and hold. Rotate the left temperature control
knob clockwise (CW) one detent.
(2) If you continue to keep the a/c and recirc buttons
depressed, the AZC control module will perform
a Segment Test of the Vacuum Fluorescent (VF) display.
In the Segment Test you should see all of the
display segments illuminate as long as both buttons
are held. If a display segment fails to illuminate, the
vacuum fluorescent display is faulty and the a/c
heater control must be replaced.
(3) After viewing the Segment Test, release the
A/C and Recirc buttons and the display will clear

momentarily.
If a 0 is displayed, then no faults
are set in the system.
Should there be any faults,
either current or historical, all fault codes will be

displayed in ascending numerical sequence (note no
effort is made to display fault codes in chronological

order). Each fault code is displayed for one second
before the next code is displayed. Once all fault codes
have been displayed, the system will then repeat the
fault code numbers. This will continue until the left
side set temperature control is moved at least one
detent position in the CW direction or the ignition is

turned OFF.
