Hi to all and this is my first post onto this list. I am hoping that someone else out there has experienced this problem!

Intermittently, On Start Up, I can lose function of the Electric Windows, Side Mirrors, The A/C stops (but it could be the flaps just drop) and the heater is then in full force.
Gauges etc. etc. All work perfectly. Vehicle Drives perfectly.

If I simply remove and re-fit the 50A fuse/link in the engine bay for the POWER WINDOWS (fuse 12) EVERYTHING is back to normal.

Until the next time it decides not to work. There doesn't appear to be any pattern to why it stops working.

Ive done the basic stuff. Like check the door wiring, replaced the fuses with new ones, new battery, checked the fault codes with my OBD2 unit etc. No change or improvement so far.

Thanks in advance.
Regards Peter

Welcome to the garage Peter.
The fuse #12 from the PDC feeds both door modules. Are you sure that the passenger side windows don´t operate from the passenger door module? Looks like the drivers door module freezes and the fuse removal resets it.

Hi Frank,
And thanks for the welcome.

OK. Unfortunately I cant answer that question! Not at this point in any event. I will check this the next time it stops working and re-post the answer.

I know nothing operates form the drivers doors. There are obviously quite a few items hanging off this circuit which adds to the complexity for diagnosis.

The one I left out in the last post was the central lock solenoid on the drivers door. It stops as well. Only lockable using the key. All other doors function with key fob.

Thanks Frank

So its indeed the drivers door module which freezes. Power windows and drivers door power lock are switched via the drivers door module. All other door locks are switched via the passengers door module.
You did check the wiring in the door boot, but sometimes a wire only breaks internally and the isolation stays intact. Did you feel for any weak area in the wires? I know the access is quite narrow.
Other then that, you could check the connector on the drivers door module for any moisture or corrosion on the pins. I didn´t hear of problems with the drivers door module board, but it could be an idea to open up the drivers door module and check for loose components/solders.

Thanks Frank
I will re-check the loom feed through at the door again today and make sure all is intact and I don't have an internal broken connection within the wires insulation.

I will remove the drivers door card and check the physical connection on the switch module itself and have a look at the wiring etc. at the same time. I will do this first and then try the vehicle to see if the same problem continues. Then I will look at the module board etc. At least that way I can keep narrowing down where the problem maybe.

Thanks Frank
Cheers...

Frank,
Well after a few days it has now started to play up again!
What I found is that the Drivers window Stops working as well!
So I'm not sure how that is all connected now? Very, very odd!

I did check the door wiring on the drivers side. there,s enough room to grab the wiring loom while the door is open. So I simply pushed, pulled and twisted it while operating the drivers side window. Did not miss a beat once!

Thanks Regards Peter

Was the driver side power window not one of the first which stopped working from the beginning? Either way, its controls are in the DDM. Did you open up the DDM to check the board and solders?

I suspect that the other windows have not worked from the begining of this issue. It's just that I never tried them until you suggest it.

I will take the drivers door panel off tommorow and check Master Switch. Hopefully I will find something conclusive!
Thank you
