03 4.7 With NV247 front end droning noise

Ok so 03 JGC limited non lifted 4.7. It's got new bearings up front as well as two new front axles / cv joints. Also just replaced the tires 10k miles ago. (this noise was happening before the tires were replaced)

Jeep is in very good shape for 200k miles...but...it has a droning noise that starts from the get go and gets worse as you go faster, under load and no load.

I pulled the front drive shaft and it went away. So, is it the diff or the drive shaft with the 3 knuckles that needs replacing?

Thoughts anyone??? Any help greatly appreciated!

Did you check the T-case fluid level and took a sample of the fluid to check for metal flakes? Did you check the front diff gears for wear? Any play on the front prop shaft joints?

Yep, I should have posted that in the original message, my bad.

Changed the fluid in the Tcase with proper fluid twice and it doesn't appear to be the Tcase. I also pulled the diff cover and it doesn't appear to be that either from first look. I guess it could be the diff, but it really comes down to the drive shaft or that.

As always thanks for your help.

G'day L
Not sure if you've worked out the issue or not, but I'd suspect the prop shaft(ps). There s/b no discernible 'play' in both joints. How do they look/feel? If you can make them 'click' by hand now that its out, when under load and spinning they'll make huge racket as they fail.
Also, even though the prop shaft is out, most of the front axle 'gear' is still passively rotating along with the wheels, so if the noise went away upon ps removal, you might have solved the riddle. Note failing props can be so vexing; I too thought the diff had gone 'for sure' the last time as the first time it went was just lots of white noise and rpm related. The last time brought 'deep' grinding and clunking which had me fretting about the ring and pinion and spyders. Was the PS though. Bonne chance!
