1999 LIMITED GRAND CHEROKEE 4.7 v8 fuel line problem

Hi I'm a new member to this forum I recently bought a 1999 limited grand Cherokee that wasn't running because of a few wires that were chewed up under the hood. I fixed those wires and changed the alternator which also was seized. Then the truck started up but wouldn't stay running I then noticed that I had a gas leak from what seemed to be the gas tank so I took the tank down to see it was the fuel line leaking. This is my problem I cannot get the fuel line disconnected from the fuel filter to save my life can some one please help me? I've been online looking for a remedy but nothing yet. I do know that I need a special disconnect tool but I don't know which one exactly if anyone knows please help me out thanks

Re: 1999 LIMITED GRAND CHEROKEE 4.7 v8 fuel line problem

hey man, I had the same troubles removing the filter on mine to replace it. if you go through the trouble to remove it i would replace it too because it is a inexpensive part and replacing it now may save you from it later. I'm sending the link that helped me to get mine off. i did not use the special tool, i used vice grips lol

There is no special tool, you just pinch the tabs.

Re: 1999 LIMITED GRAND CHEROKEE 4.7 v8 fuel line problem

this post is over a month old, but i thought i'd weigh in on it just in case someone came across this.

2 of the lines can be removed easily by hand by just pinching the tabs and pulling. the black one is a pain in the butt. i read somewhere that using a 10mm wrench and fiddling with it will get it off. i didn't want to spend the extra money on the kit either so i gave it a go.... basically, once i got the wrench between the black plastic sleeve and the housing of the filter, i pushed on the line as if i was trying to put it back on. then, using the housing for leverage, i pushed the black sleeve into the fitting of the line. after a bit of cursing and twisting, i got it off.
