1999 wj and 2000 wj compatibility issue

Hi Guys,
Does anyone know for certain that a 42re from a 1999 4.0l WJ will work in a 2000 4.0l WJ? that had a 42re in it as well.

Re: 1999 wj and 2000 wj compatibility issue

I'm pretty sure that the governor pressure sensor and solenoid are different in a 99 then a 2000. Had to learn that the hard way. If I remember correctly the 99 had a 2 prong connector the 00 had a 3. I don't know If that would effect switching them though. From what I've learbed the electronics are kinda picky in the trannies. It might throw some codes at you

I think the change is from '01 on so you should be ok. I would double check by calling your local Jeep parts dept. and see if the gov pressure sensor has the same part number for'99 and '00.
