Fuel pressure regulator on way out? Any other symptoms like black smoke, poor fuel economy, fuel smell? Have access to fuel pressure gauge?

2000 4.7 throttle hesitation.

Thanks!

No bad smell but yesterday i floored it and it only really took off at 3000rpm , at lower rpm it just doesn't really seem to have the normal power.
The car has been standing still for years before I bought it.

Edit: cleared the codes and only P443 came back.

Re: 2000 4.7 throttle hesitation.

P0443 is the Evap Canister--possibly the solenoid. The evaporative emission system is designed to prevent the escape of fuel vapours from the fuel system. Leaks in the system, even small ones, may allow fuel vapours to escape into the atmosphere.

Could be related to the fuel pressure regulator as they work together. I'd still run a fuel line pressure test--sensing fpr, filter or pump--all ageing gear and routine replacement items.

Hopefully Frango drives by soon--he'll sort you out for sure.
bonne chance!

Re: 2000 4.7 throttle hesitation.

It was bad feul in the end i guess, but changed the feul filter , spark plugs and TPS just to be sure.
Car runs much much better now so it was not a bad thing, the original plugs where in a bad state after only 36000km in 16 years.

Evap code is still there solenoid clicks no cracks in the tubing, and the P1282 keps comming back every now and then strange thing is that the car never ran any better

Re: 2000 4.7 throttle hesitation.

P1282 is set when the PCM doesn´t see the expected voltage drop when the solenoid is activated. The solenoid clicks, but maybe the voltage drop is not as expected by the PCM, or the PCM itself has an internal fault. I would measure the wiring for high resistance and clean all connectors in the EVAP solenoid circuit.
