I dont have alot of trans experience, I am working at learning the craft...
typically if you have lockup condition I would lean towards the torque converter, especially because the vibration while shifting, you should have a fluid connection between the engine and trans and if the tq converter is locked up there is going to be no slip and you will feel everthing going on between gears without a buffer. Ultimately again not being a trans guy, this may be a front pump issue, the torque converter clutch valve sticking. Also suggested is possibly a plugged cooler.
