2002 Cherokee A/C Not Working

My A/C stopped working all of a sudden. I drove to a friends house with cold air coming out of the vents and when leaving I had no A/C. Prior to it stopping the air was blowing cold so I don't see how it could be low on R134. The compressor does not switch on. I checked the heater control connectors and I checked the fuse and relay under the hood and they are all good. I pulled the plug off the compressor and checked for voltage and there is none when switched on. The system does not have a low pressure switch. There is a switch on the line by the condenser on the passenger side. Could it be this? Anyway to test this?

Re: 2002 Cherokee A/C Not Working

And was the system checked for leaks?

Re: 2002 Cherokee A/C Not Working

I added a can of r134 with dye and looked with a light. The only place I think I see something is where this switch type device is attached to the condenser line on the front passenger side. Does anyone know what this is? I don't think it's called a low pressure switch but is like one.

Re: 2002 Cherokee A/C Not Working

Its in fact called a pressure transducer and its installed with an O-ring on the discharge line close to the condensor. This transducer can be removed without loosing the refrigerant, because the connection has a schader type valve, which will close when removing the transducer.

Re: 2002 Cherokee A/C Not Working

Thanks...I'll try changing the O-ring.
