Today My Jeep started making a knocking noise I will try to give as much detail as I can. I took a video but the audio on my phone is pritty crappy.
So I was running late for work this AM so I go on her pritty good getting to the E-Way no issues. Cruising @ 75 no issues. Got behind some Traffic that slowed me down to 60 and once it cleared I got on the gas to get back to 75 and I heard the dreaded sound. Immediately I got off the gas cause it didn't sound normal. Kinda like a diesel camming load hollow clunky sound hard to explain it. after getting off the E-way got stopped by a light and when I took off @ around 2,000 rpm in 1st gear still there it was again.
I checked the oil and it was a bit low not showing on the dip stick but still had oil pressure and no low oil indication (hope it has that has everything else LOW like annoying low washer fluid) as a precaution I put in some slick 50 added 2 quarts of oil to get to the full line.
On the way home I was easy on it. seamed to happen around 2,000 rpm in 1st when taking off from a stop. @ 2,000-2,4000 rpm in 2nd and once in 3rd it stops.
If I get up and go slow never breaking say 1,600 RPM nothing. Cruising @ 50 NOTHING if I get on it @ 50 take RPM to say 4,000 it will make the knock noise when I let off the gas for just a second.
Makes the quieter knock for a few seconds when taking off under light load but it well leave when it shifts to 2nd gear and not return if I keep my foot out or the gas pedal (as in drive like my granny did). Can get it all the way to 70 like that with no sound.
Once its in 3rd I can get on it pritty good say 4,000 rpm and acceperate to 50-60ish but when I let off the peddle to cruise it will knock real quiet for a brief second and nothing as I cruise down the road.
Sitting idle it will make the knock sound if you get the RPM to about 2100-2400 but I am afraid to take it and higher to see if it stops.
Wife made it to work just find she said it only made the noise when she took off from a light but again she drives like granny did.
And advice would be great I hope this is not a rod seams strange it don't do it unless the engine is @ just the right RPM and LOAD.
