2002 grand cherokee p0155 error code

I am receiving the p0155 error code and according to the mpoar shop manuel it says 2/1 o2 sensor heater failure and then oxygen sensor heater element malfuction. How do I know wat to replace the upstream or the down stream sensor?

p0155 error

I have a 4.0 2002 with the error code p0155. i am going to replace one of the 02 sensors, but which one? the description of the error in the mopar shop manual is "2/1 sensor heater failure" and "oxygen sensor heater element malfunction" From the description of what they measure I would think it is the down stream, any expert advice?

Re: p0155 error

Normally 2/1 means bank 2, sensor 1 (upstream sensor).
Did you check the O2 sensor fuses in the Power Distribution Center under the hood first?

Re: p0155 error

No I have not checked the fuses, but I will. Is this a visual inspection or do i need to put a volt meter on it? At 183,000 i assumed it would the O2 sensor

Re: p0155 error

There can also be a relay in the O2 heater circuit.
You have now at 3 different places questions about this same O2 sensor problem. I think its better to keep it centralised at one place.

Re: 2002 grand cherokee p0155 error code

Sensor 2/1 means bank 2 (right side of engine) sensor 1 (upstream). Go to a dealer or find Denso brand sensors, other brands like bosch don't heat up fast enough for the jeep computer.
