Just did a brake job on JGC. All went well & it stops on a dime. Here is the real issue... After the brake job, i took the car for a test drive & would speed up & brake t to test & adjust the brakes. No issues. Took the JGC on a "maiden voyage" out last night & when I would hit the brakes, go over a medium sized bump or turn to the right too fast, it would make a grinding/whining/rubbing sound from right under my feet in the driver's area. I thought that something came loose from my brake job.
Today I took everything apart & verified all was working properly. Everything look normal & saw no damage or unusual wear marks as if something was "rubbing". Spoke to a friend of mine who is VERY knowledgeable about cars & he suggested that I remove the from prop shaft & see if it did it again. NOISE WAS GONE!! driving my jeep as a 2wd now & looking for new front prop shaft parts/assemblies. Does any one know of a good place to get these parts?? Stealer wants $850 to 1000.00 for a new front prop shaft. aftermarket wants 554.00 for a rebuilt unit. Is that a good price? Still too high? Wouldn't the actual gringing noise come from the front diff?? Looking ofr suggestions...
