2002 limited trany problem

I have a 2002 wj 4.7 it won't shift from 2 to 3rd when floored you have to let off the accelerator half way to get it to shift. It doesn't slip & shifts normal under normal acceleration any ideas?

Re: 2002 limited trany problem

Welcome to the garage.
Would be interresting to see what the TPS % is at WOT (wide open throttle), because its the TPS which gives the signal of the throttle position to the PCM, which then should tell the TCM to downshift. Does it downshift in lesser then WOT position?

Re: 2002 limited trany problem

Mostly shift problems are caused by either the TPS or a speed sensor. Did you check if there is any DTC stored in the PCM?
You could try and do a battery reset, the TCM will then loose a part of the shift memory and it can do some harder shifts for the first few miles, but should relearn quickly. See if that will make any difference in the upshift.
