Unhappy 2002 WJ limited blower motor issues. Help!

I am a newbie, so first off.... hello to all.I have a 02 grand Cherokee limited that I have been wrestling with trying to get the blower fan to work without issues. First off, the connector to the resistor was melted, so, I replaced the resistor and the wiring pigtail that came with it last week. After getting it finished, I reconnected the battery and noticed that it still would not run, I then checked the fuse 40a in the engine comp, and found it to be blown, replaced that, still no blower motor. I then replaced the blower motor because I believed that an increased resistance is what caused the connector to burn or melt. Now, when I connect the plug to the motor, the motor bumps and then nothing. I ran the test on the AC and I get a code 52. I have already replace the blend door actuator, last year, yea, it surely was a PIA. Anyone out there have any ideas, I could really use some help.

Thanks...

Re: 2002 WJ limited blower motor issues. Help!

What do you mean with " the motor bumps"? Did you try the blower motor when its not installed? You replaced the blower motor controller with an exact same part as came out and connected the wires correctly? Because on the automatic temp control system, there is a controller and on the manual control system there is a resistor pack. Not sure though what the fisical difference is between those two.
The code 52 is from the recirculation door travel too large, so probably a broken door hinge. That door seems to be above the blower motor. Isnīt it blocking the blower wheel in any way?

I have the motor out, the cage drags slightly in comparison to the new one. What I am referring to as "bump" is when you plug the pigtail into the connector on the motor, the motor turns slightly, or bumps. As for the part of the restistor, no, it was not exactly the same, I used the newer unit with the harness that pn is 05179985aa, directly form the Dealer.
The harness is pn 68052436aa.
My Jeep has the AZC system.

Re: 2002 WJ limited blower motor issues. Help!

Assuming that the wiring is connected right, did you check fuse 7 and 20 on the junction block?
Maybe you could get more info from the following site: http://www.wjjeeps.com/blower_motor.htm
Attached the wiring diagram for the blower motor connections.

Nice schematic, I have a question though, if fuse 7 were blown, wouldn't the AZC not function? It appears that fuse 7 protects that circuit.

Re: 2002 WJ limited blower motor issues. Help!

Both fuses 7 and 20 give an input into the AZC controller. Not sure about the function of each, so better to check both.

Re: 2002 WJ limited blower motor issues. Help!

Well... Finally, problem resolved! It seems that the middle wire in the 4 way connector had a bad solder connection. I found it by connecting my DMM black lead to the gnd, and probing the middle wire, starting from the connector, back towards the AZC. I had 12 VDC all the way until I crossed the solder joint!

Thanks so much for your assistance.

Re: 2002 WJ limited blower motor issues. Help!

Good to hear it is solved. Which connector was giving the problem?

Re: 2002 WJ limited blower motor issues. Help!

The 4 way, on the controller. It actually was a solder joint not the connector.

Re: 2002 WJ limited blower motor issues. Help!

But was that solder on the new connector you had just installed?
