2003 JGC Alarm Question

Hey Y'all - new to the forum and need some help. Recently upgraded my "dinghy" (vehicle I pull behind my motorhome) from a 1999 JGC with 385,xxx miles to a 2003 JGC. It only came with 1 key and no Remote. 8 out of 10 times when I unlock the vehicle the alarm goes off. I have tried several procedures, all to no avail. Any thoughts? Also can I program another transponder key and are the remotes programmable? Thanks!

Re: 2003 JGC Alarm Question

I'm pretty sure the only option is to go to your local Jeep dealer/garage if you have one and they can program it for you. I don't think there's an aftermarket option for that.

Re: 2003 JGC Alarm Question

When i Bought my 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo it only had one key and no remote......i just bought a Jeep 1999-2004 Key-less remote off eBay and then i took my jeep to the dealer and they programmed it in a few seconds and free service..PS if you have Two Working Remotes you can do it on your own!!!!....The Transponder key you can program if you have two working keys.If not you have to buy one and a jeep dealer will program it for you same as remote! The dealer will charge about $100 for a remote and $120 For a key,So i suggest you buy off eBay will save you alot of $$$.I bought my Remote and Key and came out to be $56 dollars all together.....Good Luck!!!!

Re: 2003 JGC Alarm Question

When mine went bad I just ordered a replacement from here and then had my Jeep dealer program it for me. Pretty simple. Pretty expensive from this site so you might find better deals as Zetzsche248 mentioned on EBay.

I just bought a new key for my Jeep from the dealer (only had 1) and it was $60 for the key. If your dealer is charging $120 for a key, I would shop somewhere else.

Re: 2003 JGC Alarm Question

Is there a way to unlock the vehicle with only the key and NOT trigger the alarm?

Re: 2003 JGC Alarm Question

Yes, normally the alarm should disarm when you unlock the door with the key. When it doesn't do so, you probably have a problem with the door cylinder lock switch.

Re: 2003 JGC Alarm Question

You can order the FOBs but the dealership has to program them
