247 to 242 swap. Urgent help please!!

Hey guys.

So here is the story. I got a 99WJ with a 247 tcase in it. From the research done, looks like the hydrolic coupler is shot and its not cheap. Found out, that for the same money and some elbow grease, i can swap a 242 into it instead.

So, went to the junkyard and off of the donor Jeep i got the 242WJ tcase (not sure what the difference is between it and just 242j) and both front and rear driveshaft.

Right now, i got 242 all torn apart since the input shaft has to be changed. The input shaft will come from my current jeep with the 247, but it is my DD, so i am waiting on good weather to ride my bike. Someone mentioned that the input bearing also has to be swapped is that correct? Or the one in the tcase right now is good enough? Is there anything else that needs to be swapped?

I go back to school on the 22nd and any quick guidance would be appreciated. Thanks guys!

A 242LD and 242HD will fit on the WJ. The LD has a rubber boot at the tail end, but for the rest is the same as the HD.
Does this T-case have different splines on the input shaft? No idea on the bearing, if it will be the same, but if you can use the input shaft from your 247, i imagine that the bearing will be the same as well.
You will also need the T-case shift mechanism inside the cabin, since the 242 has different positions.
