3 questions! Acceleration, low fluid, radio DIN

Hi I'm a newbie here, I've had a 99 wrangler, an 89 grand wagoneer that was stolen! but this is my first grand cherokee and I love what I got. It's a 2004 Laredo with the i6 and select-trac. I have 3 issues that I want to ask about... first is this

q1:
When accelerating it feel sluggish but if I almost floor it/or floor it, I get a serious boost of power, otherwise the car just slowly accelerates. I didn't buy this to a be a beast for the v8, just around town and occasionally on the beach in nags head. but this acceleration seems odd to me. i've search for other posts about poor acceleration, but nobody seems to talk about there being acceleration when it is floored. The plugs and coils were replaced recently I was told, and the previous owner was a bit of a car nut and this was fairly well taken care of. Any ideas on what this might be? again it is slow acceleration until floored and then zoom!

q2: The previous owner said that every few thousand mile she noticed that the transmission fluid was get a little low and would notice that when usually turning left he would notice an issue and then he knew to check the transmission again. he would then top it off and and everything would be fine.. it sounds like a slow leak but he couldn't find one. any ideas? i realize that this may effect the problem above but I don't think so.

q3: the original stereo in the car was the cd changer. and it looks to be double din. However the previous owner replaced it with a single DIN alpine unit. I looked online and crutchfield and elsewhere. but they all say the car is single din too. this is weird to me, I'd like to replace it with a bluetooth audio system double din if possible so there is no trim piece. So the question is is the system double DIN or Single, or is there such thing as a 1.5 din?

thanks in advance!, I look forward to getting this girl out on the sand and adding in some tow hooks and lights.

Re: 3 questions! Acceleration, low fluid, radio DIN

Welcome to the garage.
For the first issue, i would check the fuel pressure first. Should be 49 +- 5 PSI. If ok, then maybe the fuel injectors need to be cleaned.
For the second issue, have a look in the coolant. The transmission cooler is inside the radiator, so any leak there will only be visible in the coolant.
For the third issue, the original head unit is 1 1/2 ". There is however on e bay or amazon a 2" trim moldure for the WJ. It requires some cutting of plastic in the dash. Have a look at the audio threads, where some post are regarding double din.

Re: 3 questions! Acceleration, low fluid, radio DIN

The transmission fluid should float on top of the coolant, so if there is any leak, i would expect it to be visible under the radiator cap.
