4.7 leaking around oil filter! Can't believe what I found. HELP!!

So I have noticed a small leak since I started driving this thing but due to the fan throwing oil everywhere I have been unable to track it down till today. Found out it is leaking around the oil filter flange, where the oil filter gasket is supposed to seal. So I took the filter off and what do I find?
The flange surface has been "repaired" from some sort of damage. It looks like it was damaged at the forward top most part of the flange and fixed with a JB weld type product then attempted to be ground flat.

So I'm thinking that I may be able to have it build up with welding then a good grinding job to give a decent sealing surface but that is going to have to wait till I can get some cash saved up.
Any idea how to get a decent flat surface without removing the motor and having it machined?
Any ideas? It is a pretty small leak but still annoying.

Well Dustin if it was me I would try some more JB and grind things as flat as possible, get a remote filter kit,rtv crap outa the gasket and install the adaptor plate. The filter mount can be under the hood somewhere so you'll never have to risk messing with the bad area again. It's gonna be extremely hard even for an experienced welder to weld that up due to limited space plus it's all overhead. not saying it can't be done but it's probably gonna cost you.I think a remote filter is probably a cheaper alternative. http://autoplicity.com/products/9829...FYhM4Aod1wgAIw

cheapjeep,
Great minds think alike. After researching it I was thinking the same thing, but if I'm doing it anyways I think I may as well do a dual filter set-up from amsoil.

Well I'm cheap so I ordered a single filter relocation kit from jegs.
