45RFE GURU's Need a little direction on diagnosis

HI all, i have an 2000 G/C with the 4.7/45rfe tranny. its been acting a little strange lately and im not sure where i should start with diagnosis. ive done a bunch of searching but im still a little stuck.
When the truck is cold, ie right away in the morning ect, it shifts perfect. but once it gets up to operating temp, the 2-3 shift gets rough. its not a clunk or a bang, its hard to explain. almost feels like the sound you get when you come to a stop with wet brakes. it only does it at lighter throttle application, if i give the truck more than 1/2 throttle it shifts fine. i tested the TPS and that came up fine. i have no codes at all. Im thinking it could be a speed sensor issue but i dont want to throw parts at it and hope for the best. any insight/tips would be a great help. Also the truck has a transgo shift kit in it (no resistor on the pressure line), and the fluid was changed about 10k ago. fluid level is good, and it smells like it should.
thank you,

Re: 45RFE GURU's Need a little direction on diagnosis

Normally when the TPS is the culprit for shift problems, it will do it in any gear and from cold. A speed sensor is a bigger possibility. But first i would disconnect the battery for some minutes and try again. By doing so, a part of the TCM memory will be errased and this will change the shifting. There is an input speed sensor and an ouput speed sensor. You could buy one and change the input speed sensor first. If that doesn´t help, put the sensor you removed at the output sensor position. If you decide to change the speed sensor, then this is a good address: http://www.electricaladvantage.net/4...kitoemnew.aspx

Sweet thanks For the advice. I've reset the battery allready but it wouldn't hurt to try again. I'll try the speed sensors. There is an autozone 2 min from my house and they have 2 in stock. I have a 20 dollar credit with them might just grab em both and see what happens. I think they are under 20 bucks each.

I have no experience with aftermarket speed sensors. The site i gave you works with OEM equipment.
