99 Grand Cherokee Limited drivers door harness

I need to locate a replacement wire harness for the drivers door connection to the body. There is more than one damaged or broken wires and I now have interior lights always on, door locks not functioning, windows not functioning, generally a mess. I see many listings for passenger door and rear door harness connections but cannot locate ANY drivers door harnesses either new or used! Anyone out there able to help????

Re: 99 Grand Cherokee Limited drivers door harness

This is generally one broken wire in the boot. I would just splice a new, more flexible, wire in, instead of changing the whole harness.

At least 4 wires are partly to completely broken. Two with failed insulation and visible breaks, one completely separated, and another couple suspect with evident crimps and "soft" wires in the insulation. Not sure that butt splices will fit or soldering will hold (not to mention that it is a really tight space to work in).

Re: 99 Grand Cherokee Limited drivers door harness

id fix it, but not right where its broken, you need to pull the harness all the way back into the car where it exits the kick panel than make the repair(definitely solder and shrink tube) replace enough of the wire so that the repairs are inside the door and kick panel and not in the area where they broke in the first place

That makes sense, if I can just figure out the D#### connector release. Second problem, just had the Jeep fail with a Cam Position Sensor fault. Replaced the unit and no change. I read somewhere that someone else had a similar problem and it ended up being related to a wire in the same DOOR harness. Ever come across anything like that?

I have never heard of this and looking into the wiring manual, there is no connection between the cam wiring (or the other engine sensors) and any wire in the door boot. The only thing i could think of would be the PCI data bus wire, if that one is grounded, the PCI bus will become dead and the engine will not start, no instruments and a lot of other strange behaviour. But no idea why it would set a cam sensor fault in that case.

Re: 99 Grand Cherokee Limited drivers door harness

I have had odd lights and gauge behavior in the past. Right now doorlocks, windows and door chime seem to be ok. Unit consistently resets the Camshaft Position Sensor fault. I have 5v at the connector and a good ground as well as no shorts indicated. New sensor. I am beginning to be really lost on this one. I will start a new thread relating to the current problem.

Re: 99 Grand Cherokee Limited drivers door harness

I would still like to locate a wire harness to replace the damaged one. With the amount of repairs needed I would feel better just replacing it! Anyone know a part number or source???
