Hi all I have a 2000 grand Cherokee Ltd 4.0. when I bought the car the a/c wasn't working so I replaced fan control module, condenser radiator and had it topped back up. Now when the a/c is in the off position the compressor runs every 10 seconds, stops for 3 seconds and then starts again. GETTING really hacked of now. Can anyone help?

The compressor clutch comes on and and off periodically when its running correctly. Its never constantly engaged unless the clutch goes bad and gets locked up. Though ten seconds on, three off doesn't sound right either, but may be normal. I'd have to look it up, and I'm not home or the shop ATM.

The compressor clutch relay is activated by the PCM. The PCM in its turn should receive the ON/OFF signal from the switch on the AC panel.
But check the AC mode switch as well, because with the mode switch selected to windshield, the AC compressor will come on, independent on the AC switch position. That it cycles 10 seconds on, 3 off, does not seem to be ok. Can be a too low charge, or a faulty AC pressure switch.
