Re: abs light

I hope you will not have to use it, but here an address i found in case the ABS controller is faulty. They do repairs on it.

Re: abs light

Just have fault code retrieved first to have a starting point. Maybe its something simple to solve.

Re: abs light

Took it to o'reillys. But they dont have ABS reset tool. Only check engine light one.
He said it was problably a fuse. Looked under hood in the fuse box and found 2 abs fuses, both looked good, the smaller one was a little crooked but it seemed to be still grounded.

Took off the negative battery cable and turned on lights and pumped brake and reconnected. Light still there.

Re: abs light

You should go somewhere where they have the DRB III scan tool. You could start cleaning connectors etc, but you have no idea where to start. Just removing the battery connector for sure will not clear the fault codes. But i think its a good idea to check the ABS sensor cables for damage and clean the front sensor connectors, since they are at a quite fulnerable place.

Re: abs light

I tried looking under the jeep and could not see where they cables plugged into. I guess I have to drop the tires, right?

Re: abs light

For easy access it would be better to raise the front end and put it on stands, but removing the wheels is not necessary. Attached 2 pictures to show the connector location left and right.

Re: abs light

Just had a look underneath my own car and saw that both sensor wires are routed paralel with the hydraulic brake hoses. Its not even necessary to raise the vehicle, eventhough it would make the access more easy. I found both connectors a little above and at the end of the lower suspension arms. The one at the right hand side is almost always wet, because the water separated by the airconditioning is drained somewhere above it.

Yeah i saw them also but they look normal..The connectors are right where they enter the vehicle behind plastic mud shield.

Re: abs light

Just check the sensor itself and the wiring for any damage and disconnect the connector and clean the contacts with contact cleaner. But on my car the connectors are right in view next to the brake lines, they are not hidden behind any plastic shield.
