Air stoped worken then started again??

Hello Everybody, just found this forum and this is my first post.

A few weeks ago I started hearing a high pitched noise coming from under the hood. Sounded like a bearing from something on the belt was failing?? Today while driving the A/C dies completely(no air flow) but you could feel a little cool coming out of the vents. A little while later I get back in the car and start it up and it works fine then Dies after about two minutes. Third time I drove it today it works perfectly but notived the high pitched whine has stopped?? Was 95 here in Philadelphia today.

Was thinking electrical issues with the fan, heater wouldn't work either but with the whine gone im not sure. Anybody have any good ideas?

'03 Overlander with 110K.

Also anybody know a online "dealership" that sells genuine OEM parts for less than a local guy gets? Need to replace my 2/2 O2 sensor while I'm at it

Thanks

Brian

Re: Air stoped worken then started again??

The squeal could be your serpentine belt slipping or a bearing on something like the ac, alternator or water pump. The lack of air flow out the dash vents may be your blend door headed south. If it were me, I'd start by replacing the belt and making sure the belt tension "thingy" is within specs. If that clears up the squeal you'll then have to decide what you want to do about the blend door. If it doesn't stop the squeal or makes it worse, you'll need to figure out which bearing needs replaced.

Sounds like your blower motor is beginning to fail. Hopefully not but it sounds like what I had. I had to replace the blower motor. Look under the dash on the passenger side directly below the glove box, you should be able to see a connector looking thing. Make sure it hasent come loose, next time your air goes out tap around that area (below the glove box) if your air come back on immediatly after but then shuts off, you might want to get the motor checked out, it might just be the harness that connects to
it.

Re: Air stoped worken then started again??

-Edit, I did not have to change the entire blower motor, just the blower resistor.

HOWEVER! like I said the problem could be the blower motor connector, it could be melted or something. PLEASE READ THIS>> http://www.wjjeeps.com/blower_motor.htm

Hope this helps! Next time the air fails, try wiggling the connector under the glove box, if it comes
back on then that's your problem! A faulty connector.

Re: Air stoped worken then started again??

Regarding the high pitched sound, remove the serpentine belt from one of the pulleys and turn the 2 tensioner pulleys by hand. Many times all grease is gone from the bearings and they start making a noise and finally will fail.

HAHA Since it was 95 out today this was definitly my best option.

Have a new belt just been to lazy to put it on. Blower worked fine this afternoon took 3 short trips to different stores then after 5 minutes on the way home the blower died. Turned it off and waited a while and it worked fine. Looks like something is overheating causing it to crap out till it cools. Found the blower fan beneath the golve box tonight so will start there.

Thanks everybody

Re: Air stoped worken then started again??

It sounds like the problem it deffinately the blower motor CONNECTOR, since the blower stops working only after it overheats, This is a common problem on the WJ's. The connector on the blower motor module overheats, resulting in intermittent or no operation of the blower motor.

if you haven't already...check out the link, it tells you what you need to do to fix it.
