another cooling fan problem.. any ideas?? please!

ok, so for the past couple weeks, my car slightly overheats when idling and in traffic, but when I get cruising it stays stable. Obviously can't use A/C. So, did my homework, replaced the relay switch and the thermostat and flush the radiator. No dice. Fuse's are all fine. What I'm thinking now is that, when I was flushing my radiator, some coolant came out when I took off the upper rad. hose. Could this have possibly fried the little connector piece thats on the right of the radiator (left if your looking at it head on)? I think the fan was working before, but now it doesn't move at all.. any idea of things to try?
And I've seen the stuff about putting a battery to the lead lines or something but I really don't know what that means..

ANY suggestions or insight would be greatly appreciated. Its 97 and humid up here, so its basically like the devils a**hole, and im driving around with the heat blasting and and ice pack on my head to keep myself from overheating. I'd like to not drive around in this 1999 Grand Sauna anymore. (its 4.0 btw, know that makes a difference in this situation)

There should be a connector on the wiring harness leading to the fan. Disconnect it and you will see it is made up of two wires. Take a couple pieces of similar gauged wire long enough to reach the battery and use them to send 12 directly to the fan. Do this by touch the bare end of one wire to the positive batter terminal and the bare end of the other wire to the negative terminal and touching the bare ends of each of the wires to one the appropriate wires in the fan connector. That way there are no fuses, switches, sensor or any other break in the dc voltage. The fan should start spinning as soon as all 4 ends of the wires are where they need to be. If not, then the fan is most likely dead.

And if the fan spins in that case, most probably your cooling temp sensor is the problem, or wiring.

Donīt take too thin wires, because they can not support the fan current and can become very hot. Just use the existing fan wires as an example and you will be fine. Just take care not causing any short with the wires.

Figured it out. Was the radiator fan motor. took it too jeep, said I just need a fan motor. They call back, said I need the entire radiator fan of course cause stealerships don't just fix one thing, that would cost $586, plus labor too, and they had to order it, so would be another day to get it all done. Said screw that, bought a new entire fan at autozone for $234, and did it my self. All good now. Thanks for all the suggestions.

Nearly $600 plus labor for a new electric radiator fan? Holy crap, that's highway robbery even by typical stealership standards. Glad it work out for you in the end.
