Any early WJ's have bad door seals?

every single one of my doors seals are leaking, it seems as though time/aging has shrunk the rubber and they no longer fit around the upper corners. It's cosmetically not a big deal, but it's letting in some noise and cold air.

Just wanted to see if any of you guys were able to stretch them back out or reglue them so the gap is moved somewhere that the air doesn't blast in as much?

Re: Any early WJ's have bad door seals?

Try heating them to see if they stretch back into position.. if not find a parts supplier and replace them! I'm sure it would be less than $100 well spent

Re: Any early WJ's have bad door seals?

A set of outer seals for the 4 doors lists for around $200.00. Here's a list showing the part numbers and MSRP: http://www.wjjeeps.com/doors/weatherstrip.htm

Re: Any early WJ's have bad door seals?

Mine did the same thing. They would all sag at the roofline and it bothered the piss out of me. I just ripped them out and reglued them in. I had to leave a bit of a gap between the two ends but it was at the bottom of the doors and there is no more annoying wind noise.

Re: Any early WJ's have bad door seals?

Just removed and reinstalled door seals yesterday and used 3M Super Weatherstrip automotive adheasive (part# 08008). As stated above, I had to leave a .5" gap at the bottom since the seals had shrunk, but it looks good and no more wind noise.

Re: Any early WJ's have bad door seals?

Good ideas in this thread! i got the same problem on my '01 wj, I think I'll tackle this with some glue as well, that little gap at the bottom shouldnt matter much to us street jeepers, will only make a big difference if you're doing water crossing or something.
